REBEL CITY | 2021 | BENEFACTOR'S COURT, NTU
Speculative design project for Nottingham Light Night. My design celebrates women's empowerment and the changes caused by them. It is inspired by the Nottingham Suffragettes and famous, powerful women from Nottingham (for example Helen Watts, and Lucy Hutchison). The message behind my design is that women want to be heard and will be heard.

Big, mechanical, industrial construction which stands for cold, dispassionate world ruled by men.

The performers wearing colourful costumes with bright lips represent change, hope, sensuality, passion and voice (the lips). Their costumes are not illuminated yet. They drag parts of the machine in opposite sides and reveal a big Suffragette puppet - engine of the world, powerful spirit.

Big enough (about 335 cm / 11 ft) to cover the Suffragette puppet with a person inside. The wheels and different elements can be animated mechanically from the inside. Inspired by the Tatlin's Tower.
